Enhancement Grant

Enhancement Grants are an initiative of NutritionLink Service Society intended to enhance existing programs already funded through other means. The funds for this grant are specifically used to increase accessibility and equity for participants by reducing barriers to program participation. The grant may be used for childcare, transportation costs, translation costs, and honoraria that may not be covered otherwise.

Applicants must offer food and nutrition literacy programs which align with the mission and values of NutritionLink Service Society. Programs can include gardening, cooking, preserving, shopping. Grants are not intended for food provision.

Funds available: $2000 to $5000 to support the enhancement of existing programs.

Timeline

Application opens:

July 25, 2025.

Application deadline:
Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 11:59pm PDT.

Successful Applicants Notified:

December, 2025

Grant usage period:
Funds awarded must be used within the 2026 calendar year.

NutritionLink Services Society will post a brief program summary of the successful grants on the NLS website.

Eligibility

All applications must be for activities that contribute to NutritionLink Services Society's mission statement: To support and sponsor food literacy projects through nutrition education and food skill building for priority British Columbia residents. The activities described in the application must benefit British Columbians.

Applicants must also be:

• A Registered Charity or Qualified Donee located in British Columbia.

• Offering food literacy programming that enhances nutrition and food skills and knowledge.

Qualified Donees

The following organizations are considered qualified donees and are eligible to receive grants:

Registered charities (including registered national arts service organizations)
Registered Canadian amateur athletic associations
Registered journalism organizations
Registered housing corporations in Canada providing low-cost housing for seniors
Registered Canadian municipalities
Registered municipal or public bodies performing functions of government in Canada
Registered universities outside Canada with student bodies that ordinarily include Canadian students
Registered charitable organizations outside Canada that have received a gift from the Government of Canada
His Majesty in right of Canada, a province, or a territory
The United Nations and its agencies

Note: His Majesty in right of Canada, a province or territory, and the United Nations and its agencies are recognized as qualified donees even though they do not need to be registered.

Reporting

Successful applicants are required to submit both Interim and Final Reports to NutritionLink Services Society (NLS).

Interim Report

This report should:

Provide an update on project progress
Outline concrete timelines
Highlight successes and challenges to date

Final Report

The final report must:

Summarize goals, outcomes, and key successes
Provide recommendations for further development
Include a detailed statement of actual expenditures (can follow the original budget format submitted to NLS)
Compare actual results with the proposed budget
Include measurable outcomes such as the number of individuals reached and overall project impact

Report Deadlines will be communicated directly to successful applicants.

Acknowledgement Requirement

Any publication or abstract resulting from NLS-supported work must include the following statement: "This work was supported by a grant from NutritionLink Services Society." Please forward one copy of any such publication or abstract to NLS.
